Shipments of electronic components continue to decline against the backdrop of declining market demand, according to the most recent statistics from the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industry Association. Japanese makers of electronic components experienced their largest two-year drop in worldwide shipments in December 2022.
In December 2022, the global shipments of Japanese electronic parts manufacturers decreased by 6.0% compared to the same month in the previous year to 342.3 billion yen, marking the second consecutive month of contraction in more than two years (since August 2020, according to data released by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industry Association (JEITA) yesterday, 28). Although monthly sales exceeded Y300 billion for the 28th consecutive month, the drop was the greatest.
