SK Hynix, formerly known as Hyundai Electronics Industry Co., LTD., was established in 1983 and officially listed in Korea in 1996. In 1999, SK Hynix acquired LG Semiconductor, and in 2001, SK Hynix was separated from Hyundai Group and renamed Hynix Semiconductor. In October 2004, the system IC business was sold to Citigroup, becoming a professional memory manufacturer. SK Hynix is committed to the production of DRAM, NAND Flash & CIS non-memory semiconductor products. There is currently one 8-inch wafer production line and two 12-inch wafer production lines in South Korea, and one 12-inch wafer production line in Wuxi, China. SK Hynix is the world's second largest DRAM manufacturer and grew to become the world's sixth largest semiconductor company in 2007. At present, it has sales legal persons and offices all over the world. SK Hynix is firmly established in the semiconductor memory field, mainly DRAM and flash memory, and is gradually growing into a comprehensive semiconductor equipment supplier by diversifying its product range, including entering the CIS business area. Dramin November 2008, SK Hynix released 1Gb GDDR5 Graphics DRAM. The newly announced 1Gb GDDR5 is based on SK Hynix's 54nm processing technology. The 1Gb GDDR5 achieves a 7Gbps speed or 28GB/s throughput, a 40% improvement over the 5Gbps 66nm GDDR5, while the 1Gb GDDR5 utilizes a 1.35V viewpoint device and is designed to consume less power. This product is ideal for high performance applications, as well as high performance PCS and next generation game controllers that require better graphics performance and quality, and will provide consumers with more fun. SK Hynix also supports GDDR3, DDR3 and DDR2 products for high-performance and mainstream markets. SK Hynix DDR3 SDRAM is a high performance, low power consumption product. DDR3 SDRAM is capable of transmitting data at a maximum speed of 1.6Gb/s and operating at 1.5V. Currently, SK Hynix offers high performance DDR3 with 1Gb and 2Gb integration, and the 4Gb product has been in mass production since 2012. |
